Where has the time gone? These past 6 months have flown by! I went to visit a friend who just had a baby and it was hard to imagine Matías ever being that small. They grow so fast! We had his 6 month checkup today and he is 15 pounds 5 ounces and 26 inches long. He’s fitting just right into 6 month clothes and jammies, but I think he’ll be out of those soon. I remember when we got gifts of 9-12 month clothes and it didn’t seem like he’d ever be that big, but the time is coming.
Well this past month was much more low key after the summer months and the travels we’ve had. It has been nice to just be at home. One of the big events was Thanksgiving! We hosted at our house and I made the turkey, homemade cranberry sauce and homemade vanilla bean ice cream. It was so nice to have everyone gather. Unfortunately Matías couldn’t enjoy the food, but that is all coming soon as well.
We got the green light from the doctor for solid foods, so we will be starting those soon. It will be fun to see his reaction. Among other things, he’s been rolling a bit more and can sit up pretty well but still needs some help. He loves to jump and has a few items that he can sit and move around in like the door jumper and standing play station (I have no idea the official names for these). He’s eating 30 ounces of formula 4 times per day. He takes about 2 hour naps 3 times per day and continues to be a champion night sleeper averaging 10-11 hours. This makes mom and dad very happy :)
Oh, I almost forgot, we took our first official family photo as well! Our church is making a photo directory so we signed up for a photo shoot. The photographer was great and very energetic helping us get some good shots of Matías. I got a little choked up seeing the pictures because although we’ve taken many pictures of him and of us with him, they’ve been informal, but seeing us all dressed up and posed really made me realize that we really are a family. We are so very blessed that God brought Matías into our life through adoption and can’t wait for what the next month brings!
