Monday, March 28th, was my 30th birthday. It’s only natural to stop and do a little bit of life reflection. A few years back at a company Christmas party, we had a guy come in and read our charts. I’ll admit that I enjoy reading my horoscope often and am fascinated when my life matches the Aries reading of the day. Of course I don’t let these dictate my life, but what I was told at that Christmas party has stuck with me…
I don’t remember the guy’s name, but I do remember that he said I would “soar” in my 30s. He said that big things/changes would happen and I would find myself very happy. Of course this is vague, but I still think about it often and now that I’ve arrived in my 30th year, I’m excited and eager to see this prediction come to fruition.
I have a lot to be thankful for and proud of in my 20s. I graduated from college, worked for Americorps, found a career in Web Development, ran several marathons, triathlons and other races, developed a love for yoga, was a bridesmaid twice, became a godmother, saw several friends get married and some have had babies, traveled to Costa Rica and now am living in Spain.
The 20s were years to do a lot of exploration. I went to 3 different colleges. I had several jobs before I found one I really loved. I had fun living with roomates, but finally got my big girl apartment in NW Portland for about 3 years and loved living the city life. I lived in San Diego, Madrid, Portland and am living abroad again! I discovered a love for running and doing races, and even better when done with friends or family. I’ve met some very amazing people and am so lucky to have such a great group of people to call friends. Finally, I’m in a really great relationship and am excited for it to grow and develop into so much more!
I’m very happy with life right now, and if this “fortune teller” guy had any truth in his reading, then I say BRING IT! I’m excited for what my 30s have to offer. I can’t help but think of the movie 13 Going On 30 and the quote “Thirty, Flirty and Thriving.” I’m ready to take on the next chapter and decade of my life. I’m excited to see what my friends and family accomplish as well. Life goes fast, take the time to appreciate it! Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!

We tried to coordinate the confetti cannon and the video camera, but capturing it was kind of a fail, so we faked it and threw the confetti ourselves…still fun!!
Such a great post, Christine! A lot has happened to get you to this point in your life, and you’ve set yourself up to be in a great space, in all aspects of your life. So excited to see what comes your way post-Spain!
