It’s hard to believe that 7 months ago I started this amazing experience. Time has flown by! I’m going to try my best to capture this experience and the final weeks in Spain with this month’s blog posts.
I was a bit nervous to be placed in a small town, because all I knew before was the big city of Madrid, and I’ve never lived in a small town. I couldn’t be more happy with where I ended up. Even with its lack of a movie theater (going to movies is one of my favorite things to do) I’ve really come to love my pueblo.
I love that I can walk down the streets and pass people or students I know and say hi or stop for a quick chat. Today I ran into someone that I met my first week here and have gotten to know throughout the months. We were going opposite directions when we bumped into each other, and both had places to go, but nonetheless, we stopped and chatted, and ended up going for a coffee (I’m going to miss my cafe con leches terribly). I love that there is no rush here. People really enjoy life and will take time out of their day to grab a drink, or a coffee, or go for a walk. The speed of life is very slow here and I’ve come to really enjoy it.
Spanish Life Lesson: Make time for coffee with a friend
Love this! I miss living in a small town, where you recognize people no matter where you go. (As a teenager, this was maybe not so awesome, but I miss it now.) Only a few more days left in Portland though!
I like this life lesson. :D
Thanks Meggan! This life lesson totally makes me reminisce about coffee Fridays…I miss those! Enjoy your last days in Portland. I hope to see you soon!
